About Rupite: Church of St. Petka of Bulgaria
The Church of St. Petka of Bulgaria stands in the Rupite area near Petrich, at the foot of the extinct Kozhuh volcano, where hot mineral springs come to the surface. It was built in 1994 at the wish of Vanga, the famous seer, who lived here and is buried in the churchyard.
The church is decorated by the artist Svetlin Rusev and is one of the most visited places in south-western Bulgaria. Nearby are the ruins of the ancient city of Heraclea Sintica.
