About Melnik History Museum and Kordopulov House
The Kordopulov House is a large late-Ottoman house in the eastern part of Melnik, built in 1754 for wine production and later bought by the Greek merchant Manolis Kordopoulos. It may be the largest house of its kind and period, with deep wine cellars cut into the rock under a living floor with stained-glass windows.
The Melnik History Museum is a branch of the Archaeological Museum in Sandanski. Its ethnographic display, in a building renovated in 2015, covers the way of life, crafts and wine trade of the town.
