What these terms cover

These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use the website, create an account, list a company or buy a paid membership. By doing any of these you accept them. How we handle personal data is explained in the privacy policy.

Our guides, news, charts and data are general information for investors. They are not legal, tax, financial or investment advice. Laws, rates and figures change, so check important decisions with a qualified adviser.

These terms are published in English and Bulgarian. Both versions have the same meaning; if they ever differ, the Bulgarian version applies.

Accounts

• You need an account to add or manage a listing and to buy a membership. Give accurate details and keep them up to date.
• Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what is done through your account; tell us at once if you think someone else has used it.
• If you act for a company, you confirm that you are allowed to do so. The company is then bound by these terms as well.

Company listings

• A Basic listing is free. It must describe a real business that operates in Bulgaria or serves clients there, and only people who work for or represent the company may add or manage it.
• Businesses in regulated sectors, such as finance, insurance, gambling, healthcare or legal services, must hold the licences and registrations their work requires.
• Our editors check new listings and changes before they appear. We may edit, shorten, refuse, suspend or remove a listing that is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, out of date or not about a real business.
• Listings carried over from the earlier InvestBulgaria directory can be taken over by the company. We confirm the takeover by email to the address on the listing, or check the request by hand.
• You can delete your listing at any time in your account. It leaves the directory at once.

Acceptable use

When you use the website you must not:

• publish anything unlawful, false, defamatory, discriminatory or that infringes someone else's rights, including trade marks, copyright and personal data;
• send spam, fake enquiries or messages that advertise unrelated products;
• copy the directory or other large parts of the website, by hand or with automated tools, to build another database or service;
• try to get around security, overload the website or reach parts of it you are not allowed to use;
• pretend to be another person or company.

Search engines and normal browsing are of course welcome.

Enquiries

Enquiries sent through a listing go to the company by email. We pass them on as they are and do not take part in any deal that follows. Any agreement, payment or dispute between a visitor and a listed company is between them alone.

Paid memberships

Verified, Featured, Partner and Site Sponsor memberships add a website link and extra visibility, as described on the Advertise page. Each membership is for one company and runs for one year from the day the payment arrives.

• Paid placements are always labelled as paid. They are not an editorial endorsement, and they do not change what our editors write.
• Links from paid memberships are marked as sponsored for search engines, as search engines require.
• The exact position of a listing, banner or logo can change as the website develops, but each plan always keeps the features described for it.

Prices and VAT

Prices are per year, in euros, and include 20% Bulgarian VAT. Companies in other EU countries with a valid VAT number, checked in the EU VIES register, and customers outside the EU pay the price without Bulgarian VAT; the invoice shows the reason. An agreed price, for example for a Partner or Site Sponsor, is confirmed in the payment link we send.

Payment and invoices

• You can pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, by SEPA Direct Debit, and, where offered, by PayPal or bank transfer. Card and direct debit payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store card numbers.
• The membership starts when the payment arrives. For bank transfers we send a pro-forma invoice first.
• We email a Bulgarian VAT invoice for every payment, as a PDF. You can also download your invoices in your account.

Renewal and cancellation

• Memberships paid by card, SEPA Direct Debit or PayPal renew automatically every year at the price then shown for your plan. We email you at least 7 days before each renewal.
• You can turn off automatic renewal at any time in your account. The year already paid keeps running until its end date.
• Memberships paid by bank transfer do not renew automatically. We send reminders before the end date with a link to pay for the next year.
• If a renewal payment fails or is not made, the listing keeps its place for 7 days and then becomes a Basic listing. It is not deleted.

Refunds

A membership year that has started is not refunded, in full or in part, including when you turn off renewal, delete the listing or change plan. We refund the unused part of the year if we end your membership without a reason set out in these terms, or if the law requires a refund. If a payment was taken by mistake, write to us and we will put it right.

If you buy as a consumer

Memberships are meant for businesses. If you buy one as a consumer, that is for purposes outside your trade or profession, you also have the rights that consumer law gives you, and nothing in these terms reduces them. In particular:

• You may withdraw from the purchase within 14 days, without giving a reason, by writing to us. We refund the payment within 14 days of your message, using the same payment method.
• If you asked for the membership to start straight away and then withdraw, we keep only the part of the price that covers the days already used.

Your content

You are responsible for what you publish in your listing and offers, and you confirm that you have the right to use the texts, logos and photos you upload. You allow us to show, resize and translate them on InvestBulgaria, and in posts and newsletters that present the directory, for as long as the listing is published. If someone complains that your content infringes their rights, we may take it down while the matter is checked.

Our content

The texts, charts, maps, photos, design and the directory as a database belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. You may quote short extracts with a link to the page they come from. Any other copying, republishing or commercial use needs our written permission. News articles from other publishers are shown with their source; the rights stay with them.

Other websites

The website links to company websites, official sources and other publishers. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, offers or privacy practices.

Suspension and closure

• You can close your account at any time by writing to us or by deleting your listings in your account.
• We may suspend or close an account, or remove a listing, if these terms are broken, if the law requires it, or to protect visitors from fraud. Where it is reasonable, we tell you first and give you a chance to fix the problem.
• If we close a paid membership because of a serious or repeated breach of these terms, the year already paid is not refunded. In any other case we refund the unused part.

Liability

We work to keep the website accurate and available, but we cannot guarantee that it is always online, error-free or that a membership brings a set number of enquiries or clients.

For business customers, our total liability in connection with a membership is limited to the amount paid for it in the 12 months before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profit or indirect loss. These limits do not apply to damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or to any liability that the law does not allow to be limited. They do not reduce the rights of consumers.

Events beyond our control

We are not responsible for delays or interruptions caused by events we cannot reasonably control, such as failures of hosting or payment providers, power or network outages, cyber attacks, natural disasters or acts of the authorities. If such an event stops a paid feature for more than 30 days in a row, we extend the membership by the time lost.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Bulgarian law. Please contact us first so we can try to settle any problem; we reply within 14 days. If we cannot agree, the competent Bulgarian court in Sofia decides, unless consumer law gives you the right to go to the courts where you live.

Consumers can also turn to the Commission for Consumer Protection (Комисия за защита на потребителите), 1 Vrabcha Str., Sofia 1000, kzp.bg, whose conciliation committees settle consumer disputes out of court and free of charge.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when our services or the law change. The date at the top of this page shows the latest version. Changes to prices or renewal terms apply to a membership from its next renewal, and we tell members about them by email before that date. If you do not accept a change, you can turn off renewal before it takes effect.
