Sofia Province at a Glance
Sofia Province surrounds the capital but does not include it, although its administration is based in Sofia. It borders the provinces of Pernik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Lovech, Vratsa, Montana and Sofia City, and shares a border with Serbia in the north-west.
The province benefits from its closeness to Sofia: towns such as Botevgrad, Elin Pelin, Kostinbrod, Pirdop and Zlatitsa host manufacturing, copper processing and logistics. It also includes Samokov and the ski resort of Borovets in the Rila Mountains, Malyovitsa, and the historic town of Koprivshtitsa.
