About Melnik
Melnik is a town in Blagoevgrad Province in the south-western Pirin Mountains, about 440 m above sea level. It is an architectural reserve with 96 buildings listed as cultural monuments. It is the smallest town in Bulgaria and keeps its town status for historical reasons.
Melnik lies at the foot of the Melnik Earth Pyramids and is known for its wine, made from the local Shiroka Melnishka grape. Nearby is the Rozhen Monastery.
