About Koprivshtitsa Architectural and Historical Reserve
Koprivshtitsa lies on the Topolnitsa river in the Sredna Gora mountains. It was one of the centres of the April Uprising of 1876, which began here on 20 April, and it keeps the look of a Bulgarian town of the National Revival.
Its painted houses, stone bridges and cobbled streets form an architectural reserve, and several houses are museums, including those of the poet Dimcho Debelyanov and the revolutionaries Todor Kableshkov and Lyuben Karavelov. The town also hosts a large folk festival every five years.
