About Borovets
Borovets, known as Chamkoria until the mid-20th century, is a mountain resort in Samokov Municipality, Sofia Province, on the northern slopes of the Rila Mountains. The nearest town is Samokov.
It is one of the main ski resorts in Bulgaria and has hosted World Cup alpine skiing races. In summer it is a base for walking in Rila and for climbing Musala, the highest peak in the Balkans.
