About Smolyan Regional History Museum
The Stoyu Shishkov Regional History Museum in Smolyan was founded in 1935 and is the oldest and largest museum in the central Rhodopes. Its collection has nearly 150,000 items, from archaeology to the life and crafts of the Rhodope people.
The displays include Thracian finds, costumes, carpets, bagpipes and the traditional wool and metal crafts of the mountain.
