About Shiroka Laka Architectural Reserve
Shiroka Laka is a village and architectural reserve in the Rhodope Mountains, between Smolyan and Devin. Its houses, with white walls, bay windows and stone roofs, are typical of Rhodope architecture of the National Revival, and old stone bridges cross the river.
The village has a national school of folk music and is famous for the Rhodope bagpipe. Its Kukeri festival, the Pesponedelnik, takes place each March.
