About Chirpan: Peyo Yavorov House, Nikola Manev Gallery and Zlatna Livada Monastery
The Peyo Yavorov House Museum in the centre of Chirpan is the birth house of the poet and revolutionary, born here in 1878. The ensemble includes the house, its yard and an exhibition hall. The Nikola Manev Art Gallery shows the work of a painter from the town.
The Monastery of St. Athanasius near the village of Zlatna Livada is said by Bulgarian researchers to be the oldest active monastery in Europe, founded in the 4th century. On its feast day, 2 May, thousands of people gather.
