About Stara Zagora: Regional History Museum, Neolithic Dwellings and Defenders Memorial
The Neolithic Dwellings Museum in Stara Zagora, opened in 1979, is built around two houses of the 6th millennium BC, the best-preserved Neolithic dwellings in Europe. The Regional History Museum, one of the oldest in Bulgaria, holds more than 120,000 items and moved in 2009 into a new building over a section of the Roman street of Augusta Traiana.
The Defenders of Stara Zagora Memorial was opened in 1977 for the centenary of the battle of Stara Zagora, where Bulgarian volunteers fought in the Russo-Turkish War.
