About Batak History Museum

The History Museum in Batak was founded in 1956. The museum complex includes the main building and two Revival houses, the Balinova and Sharova houses, and tells the story of Batak and the April Uprising of 1876.

In May 1876 most of the people of Batak were killed after the uprising was crushed. The Church of St. Nedelya, where many died, is preserved as a memorial and is part of the museum.
