About Varna Regional History Museum (Archaeological Museum)

The Varna Archaeological Museum, the main part of the Regional History Museum, was founded in 1888 and is housed in a Neo-Renaissance building designed by Petko Momchilov, built in 1892–1898 for the Varna Girls' School.

Its best-known collection is the gold from the Varna Necropolis, dating from about 4,500 BC and regarded as the oldest processed gold found anywhere. The museum also shows Thracian, Greek and Roman finds from ancient Odessos.
