About Museum of Mosaics, Devnya

The Museum of Mosaics in Devnya, west of Varna, was built on top of a large Roman villa from Late Antiquity. It displays floor mosaics from the Roman and early Byzantine city of Marcianopolis, one of the largest cities of the province of Moesia.

The mosaics show mythological scenes, animals and geometric patterns, and are among the best preserved in Bulgaria.
