About Aladzha Monastery and Varna Roman Baths
Aladzha Monastery is a medieval cave monastery complex 17 km north of central Varna and 3 km from Golden Sands, inside a protected forest. Its cells and chapels were cut into a 25-metre limestone cliff on several levels, and two small catacombs lie nearby.
The Roman Thermae in the centre of Varna were built in the late 2nd century AD in ancient Odessos. They are the largest preserved Roman baths in the Balkans and the fourth largest in Europe.
