About Virgin Mary Monument, Haskovo, and Aleksandrovo Thracian Tomb

The Monument of the Holy Mother of God in Haskovo was unveiled in 2003. With a total height of 31 metres, of which the statue is 14 metres, it is listed by Guinness World Records as the tallest statue of the Virgin Mary with the infant Jesus.

The Aleksandrovo tomb is a Thracian tomb of the 4th century BC, found by chance in 2000 near the village of Aleksandrovo. Its round chamber has fine frescoes of hunting scenes; a museum centre nearby shows a full-size copy.
