About Radetzky Steamship and Botev Monument, Kozloduy
The Radetzky was an Austro-Hungarian passenger steamer built in 1851 for services on the Danube. In May 1876 Hristo Botev and his band of about 200 men boarded it in Romania as passengers, took control of the ship without bloodshed and landed on the Bulgarian bank at Kozloduy.
A full-size replica of the ship, built in 1966, is moored at Kozloduy as a museum. On the bank stands a monument to Botev and his band.
