About Ledenika Cave and Vratsa Regional History Museum
Ledenika Cave lies in the north-western Balkan Mountains, 16 km from Vratsa, with its entrance at about 830 metres. Its name comes from the ice that forms near the entrance in winter. Inside are galleries and halls full of stalactites and stalagmites; the cave has been open to visitors since 1961.
The Regional History Museum in Vratsa, founded in 1953, is one of the few buildings in Bulgaria designed as a museum. Its best-known display is the Rogozen Treasure, a hoard of 165 Thracian silver vessels found in 1985.
