About Abritus Archaeological Reserve

Abritus was a Roman walled city and one of the biggest towns in the province of Moesia Inferior. Its remains are in the Archaeological Park of Razgrad, on the edge of the modern town.

In AD 251 Emperor Decius was killed nearby in battle with the Goths, the first Roman emperor to die fighting a foreign enemy. The park has gates, towers, streets and a visitor centre.
