Ancient City of Nessebar

Nesebar, often called the Pearl of the Black Sea, is a city-museum shaped by more than three millennia of history. The old town sits on a peninsula, once an island, joined to the mainland by a narrow artificial isthmus.

First a Thracian settlement, then the Greek colony of Mesambria, the town keeps remains of its acropolis, a Hellenistic fortress, medieval churches and 19th-century wooden houses. The Ancient City of Nessebar was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1983.
