About Aleko Konstantinov House Museum

The Aleko Konstantinov House Museum is in Svishtov on the Danube. The writer, author of the satirical "Bay Ganyo", gave his family home to the town during his lifetime, and it opened as a museum in 1926; since 1979 it has been a memorial museum.

The upper floor recreates the home of a wealthy merchant family. Konstantinov led the first organised climb of Cherni Vrah on Vitosha in 1895, which marks the start of the tourist movement in Bulgaria.
