Über Gedächtniskirche Shipka
Die Gedächtniskirche Christi Geburt in Shipka steht am nordwestlichen Rand der Stadt Shipka. Sie wurde 1885–1902 im russischen Stil des 17. Jahrhunderts mit goldenen Zwiebelkuppeln erbaut, zum Gedenken an die russischen und bulgarischen Soldaten, die 1877–78 in den Kämpfen um den Shipka-Pass fielen.
In ihrer Krypta ruhen die Gebeine von Soldaten, die bei der Verteidigung des Passes gefallen sind. Zum Klosterkomplex gehören außerdem Mönchszellen, ein Pilgerhaus und ein Priesterseminar.
