Vidin auf einen Blick
Die Provinz Vidin ist die nordwestlichste Provinz Bulgariens. Sie grenzt im Westen an Serbien und im Nordosten an Rumänien und umfasst 11 Gemeinden. Die Provinzhauptstadt Vidin ist eine Hafenstadt am Südufer der Donau.
Vidin ist ein Industrie-, Landwirtschafts- und Handelszentrum mit einem fruchtbaren Hinterland, das für seine Weine bekannt ist. Die Brücke Neues Europa nach Calafat verbindet die Stadt mit Rumänien. In der Provinz finden sich die Überreste vieler Burgen, darunter Baba Vida, eine der letzten bulgarischen Festungen während der osmanischen Eroberung, sowie die Festung und die Felsformationen von Belogradchik.
