Über Gipfel Okolchitsa
Die Okolchitsa ist der höchste Gipfel des Vratsa-Gebirges im westlichen Balkan. Am 2. Juni 1876 lieferte die Freischar des Dichters und Revolutionärs Hristo Botev hier ihr letztes Gefecht, und Botev wurde in der Nähe getötet.
Auf dem Gipfel steht ein hohes Gedenkkreuz, und jedes Jahr am 2. Juni gedenkt Bulgarien Botevs und all derer, die für das Land gestorben sind. Der übliche Aufstieg beginnt im Dorf Chelopek.
