Kyustendil auf einen Blick
Die Provinz Kyustendil umfasst etwa 2,7 % des bulgarischen Staatsgebiets im äußersten Westen des Landes, wo ihre Grenze den Grenzen zu Nordmazedonien und Serbien folgt. Die Provinzhauptstadt Kyustendil liegt etwa 90 km südwestlich von Sofia und ist seit thrakischer und römischer Zeit besiedelt.
Kyustendil ist ein Zentrum der Leichtindustrie, darunter Schuhe, Bekleidung, Verpackungen, Möbel und Lebensmittelverarbeitung, und sein Tal ist wegen des Obstanbaus als Obstgarten Bulgariens bekannt. Zur Provinz gehören Dupnitsa, der Kurort Sapareva Banya und das Rila-Kloster, eine UNESCO-Welterbestätte.
