Gabrovo auf einen Blick
Die Provinz Gabrovo gehört zu den kleinsten Bulgariens und liegt im geografischen Mittelpunkt des Landes; der Mittelpunkt selbst befindet sich in Uzana bei der Stadt Gabrovo. Die Provinzhauptstadt erstreckt sich über etwa 25 km entlang des Flusses Yantra am Fuß des zentralen Balkangebirges und gilt als Bulgariens Hauptstadt des Humors und der Satire.
Gabrovo hat eine lange industrielle Tradition und ist bis heute eine Industriestadt. Zur Provinz gehören außerdem Tryavna, Dryanovo, Sevlievo und das Dorf Bozhentsi mit gut erhaltener Architektur der Nationalen Wiedergeburt sowie das Freilichtmuseum Etar und der Shipka-Pass über das Balkangebirge.
