Haskovo auf einen Blick
Die Provinz Haskovo liegt im Südosten Bulgariens, grenzt an Griechenland und die Türkei und umfasst einen Teil der Thrakischen Ebene entlang der Maritsa. Sie hat 11 Gemeinden. Die Provinzhauptstadt Haskovo gehört zu den größeren Städten Bulgariens und hat eine Geschichte, die bis etwa 5000 v. Chr. zurückreicht.
Die Provinz liegt am wichtigsten Verkehrskorridor zwischen Bulgarien und der Türkei, mit der Autobahn Maritsa und dem Grenzübergang Kapitan Andreevo. Ihre Wirtschaft ist eine Mischung aus Industrie, Handel und Landwirtschaft. Dimitrovgrad und Harmanli sind weitere wichtige Städte, und die Ostrhodopen im Süden bieten thrakische Stätten sowie die Stauseen Studen Kladenets und Ivaylovgrad.
