Über Museum des Rila-Klosters
Das Kloster des Heiligen Johannes von Rila ist das größte und berühmteste orthodoxe Kloster Bulgariens. Es liegt im Tal des Flusses Rilska, 117 km südlich von Sofia, auf 1.147 Metern Höhe im Naturpark Rila-Kloster. Es wurde im 10. Jahrhundert gegründet und im 19. Jahrhundert in seiner heutigen Form wiederaufgebaut.
Das Museum bewahrt Kirchenschätze, Handschriften und das Rafail-Kreuz, ein Holzkreuz mit mehr als 650 winzigen geschnitzten Figuren. Das Kloster gehört zum UNESCO-Welterbe.
