Greek company that delayed the construction of Bulgaria’s Struma motorway in the section between Sandanski and Kulata is investigated for bribery in Greece. Macedonian Telma TV announced that authorities in Greece had launched an investigation on Aktor company for giving bribes to officials in Macedonia in order to win the contract on the construction of the Demir Kapija-Smokvica motorway.
“The Greek company has given bribes to officials in the Former Macedonian Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) to win a EUR 270 million contract,” says the latest report of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The construction works started in 2012. The Greek company won the tender though its offer was the highest, Telma comments.
According to the report, the corruption deal involved people from company’s branch in Macedonia and people from Greece. In the frames of the investigation Athens asked Skopje for help but no assistance was provided and the country addressed Eurojust.
