The Bulgarian Stock Exchange's main index closed at 1,838.43 points on 29 October, up almost 59% since the start of the year, led by a 23% rise in Eurohold shares.

The main index of the Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE), SOFIX, rose 6.06%, or 105.09 points, on Thursday 29 October to close at 1,838.43 points, its highest closing level in nearly 19 years, BTA reported.

The last time the index closed higher was on 8 November 2007, at 1,860.97 points. SOFIX is now about 114 points below its all-time closing high of 1,952.40 points, set in October 2007. It has gained 58.97% since the start of 2026, after ending 2025 at 1,156.43 points.

Most other BSE indices also rose on the day. BGBX40 gained 4.59% to 283.93 points, BGREIT added 0.50% to 246.72 points and BGTR30 climbed 2.05% to 1,246.03 points, while the beamX index slipped 0.32% to 133.58 points. Turnover on the main market reached €4.78 million.

Eurohold Bulgaria was the most actively traded stock and the main driver of the gain. Its shares jumped 22.94% to €2.68, with 110 trades in 138,808 shares and turnover of €345,077. The rally followed the company's announcement on Wednesday that it had started a procedure to list its shares on the Prime Standard segment of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. On Thursday Eurohold said it had also applied to move its shares to the BSE's EuroBridge segment, which allows simultaneous trading in Sofia and Frankfurt.

The BSE board will set the date of the transfer, taking into account when trading starts in Frankfurt. Eurohold shares currently trade on the BSE's Premium Equities segment and on the Main Market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange. If the move goes ahead, Eurohold will join Shelly Group and Sirma Group on EuroBridge.

Other active stocks also rose. Chimimport gained 4.55% to €0.805 a share, Sopharma 1.22% to €3.32, Sirma Group 3% to €0.756, and First Investment Bank (Fibank) 4.89% to €4.72.

For the Sofia market, the EuroBridge link is a way to bring Bulgarian companies in front of investors who trade in Frankfurt without leaving the local exchange.
