The National Bureau of Bulgarian Motor Insurers (NBBMI) is a representative Bureau for Republic of Bulgaria under the meaning of the Internal Regulation of the Council of Bureaux, participating and assisting for the functioning of the Green Card System and the obligatory Third Party Liability of Motorists insurance in the Member states. The Bureau was established on the 1st of April 2002 and in the same year it became a full member of the Council of Bureaux, based in London, Great Britain.
Till 2002 the functions and activities of a National Bureau were performed by Bulstrad PLC.
The National Bureau of Bulgarian Motor Insurers Association is a non-profit legal entity incorporated in compliance with the provisions of the Non-Profit Legal Entities Act and Art.282 of the Insurance Code.
By the resolution of the National Council on Insurance in Republic of Bulgaria dated 28.11.2001, the NBBMI is acknowledged to act as a sole representative entity under the meaning of the Internal Regulation of the Council of Bureaux by taking part and contributing to the functioning of the Green Card System as well as participating and assisting for the functioning of the obligatory Third Party Liability of the Motorists insurance in the Member states.
Since the accession of Republic Bulgaria to the European Union on 01.01.2007, the NBBMI have become a signatory Bureau to the Multilateral Guarantee Agreement.
