About Zheravna Architectural Reserve and Yordan Yovkov House
Zheravna is a village and architectural reserve in the eastern Balkan Mountains, near Kotel. It has more than 200 wooden houses of the 18th and 19th centuries, with wide eaves and stone walls, along cobbled lanes.
The writer Yordan Yovkov was born here in 1880, and his house is a museum. The village also keeps the Rusi Chorbadzhi House and an icon museum, and hosts a national festival of folk costume each summer.
